Eid Al-Adha

Posted on: 23 August 2017

Alhamdulillah.  We extend warmest Eid greetings to you and your family and want to remind us all to reap as much benefit as we can from the remaining days before Eid-al-Adha.

The month of Dhul Hija will begin on Wednesday, August 23rd.  The Day of Arafat, 9th of Dhul Hija, will be on Thursday, August 31st and Eid-ul-Adha will be be on Friday, September 1st.  Inshallah, we will be praying the Eid-ul-Adha Salaah on Friday , September 1st at the Masjid at 7:30AM.

The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “There is no deed that is better in the sight of Allah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of Al-Adha”. It was asked, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) replied, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself for Jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijja (the 12th Islamic calendar month) carry special status during the blessed month of “Pilgrimage.” The above Hadith of the Prophet  spells out the importance of these ten days in the sight of Allah (سبحانه و تعالى)  and the amplified reward for all good deeds during this blessed season.  Just like the last ten nights of Ramadan are the best ten nights out of the year, these first ten days of Dhul-Hijja are the best days of the year and the most beloved to Allah (سبحانه و تعالىas they combine acts of worship in a way unlike any other time.

So, the questions we should be asking ourselves are, “How do we make the most of this season of blessings?”, “What deeds can I perform to attain His pleasure ?”. The following are some examples of the acts of worship that will help us gain His pleasure InshaAllah.

  • Perform Hajj (if you can afford it)

  • Fasting during the first nine days of Dhul Hijja and especially on the 9th of Dhul Hijja for those not performing Hajj.

  • Perform Dhikr and Takbeer (Allahu Akbar).

  • Make dua to Allah (سبحانه و تعالىseeking His forgiveness and repenting for past and future sins.

  • Perform extra prayer at night.

  • Increase your charitable and good deeds to help others in your community and those less fortunate around the world.

We pray that Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) accepts our ibadaah, sacrifice, charity, and dua during these blessed days of Dhul Hijja and keeps us in the best of Imaan. Ameen.

Once again, Eid Mubarak, from everyone at Masjid As-Siddiq.
